Assistant Minister delegation

29 July 2026

Assistant Minister for Economic Development Senator Serena Kersten has been given responsibility for arts, culture and heritage, alongside her existing responsibility for sport.

These responsibilities have been delegated to her by the Minister for Economic Development, Deputy Gerald Voisin.

Senator Kersten said: "I am delighted to take on responsibility for arts, culture and heritage and look forward to supporting a sector that plays such an important role in Jersey's identity, wellbeing and sense of community. Like sport, our arts, culture and heritage helps to bring people together, strengthen our community and make the Island a better place to live. I am excited to work with our partners and stakeholders to build on the great work already underway and to ensure that arts, culture and heritage continue to benefit Islanders now and for generations to come.

“There are also clear synergies between the arts, culture and heritage portfolio and that of sport; with both making a significant contribution to wellbeing, community cohesion and Island identity. While there are opportunities to work collaboratively across these areas, it is important to recognise that each portfolio plays a distinct role and deserves equal attention, support and investment to realise its full potential for Islanders."

The delegation of responsibilities for arts, culture and heritage has been made under the States of Jersey Law 2005 and was presented to the States Assembly on 29 July 2026: R.129/2026.
