Curtis Aubert (23) has been sentenced by the Royal Court today for the parts he played in a drugs importation into Jersey.
In February 2024 Aubert was arrested with Oliver Lucas (39) and Evert Smallegange (60) in the car park at Jersey Airport by Customs Officers. Smallegange had just arrived from Spain and was met by Lucas and Aubert. Smallegange was found to have an internal concealment of 199 pellets of cannabis, totalling one kilo, which he had swallowed. Lucas and Smallegange have already been sentenced, Lucas receiving community service and Smallegange ten month’s imprisonment.
Aubert initially pleaded not guilty and was also charged with offences relating to drugs found at his home address and failing to provide the PIN for his mobile phone.
Having just spent two months on custodial remand, Aubert was today sentenced to 330 hours community service and a year’s probation order.
Customs & Immigration Senior Manager Luke Goddard said “This case shows that criminal syndicates go to significant lengths to attempt to import illicit drugs and that JCIS is well equipped to target them and convict them for the parts they play.”
