Jersey's new Council of Ministers held its inaugural meeting today, with the full team of newly-elected Ministers in attendance together with their Assistant Ministers for the first time.
The following appointments to Assistant Minister roles were approved yesterday by the Chief Minister, Senator Lyndon Farnham:

Senator Mark Boleat will take on a temporary role as an Assistant Minister to the Minister for Environment until the next States sitting on 14th July, when the new Ministry of Planning and Regulation will be created.
Senator Boleat will be the Chief Minister's nominee for the new role and, if elected by the States Assembly, the Assistant Minister will be Deputy Phil Romeril.
In addition, the Chief Minister has confirmed that Senator Serena Kersten will hold political responsibility for sport in her role as an Assistant Minister for the Infrastructure and Education portfolios.
Senator Farnham said: 'I have endeavoured to form a government that reflects the breadth of skills, views and experience in the States Assembly, and one that has the capability and drive to make improvements that islanders have called for during the election.
'During what was a positive meeting today, the members of the Council of Ministers renewed their commitment to constructive government and to tackling the key issues quickly and effectively, with particular emphasis on housing and affordability. The was a collective desire to commence work immediately.'
