A man has been sentenced in the Royal Court today in relation to the importation of heroin and cocaine.
On 4 April 2026 a letter packet was intercepted by the Jersey Customs & Immigration Service, JCIS, at Jersey Post Headquarters and found to contain 50 grams of heroin and 54 grams of cocaine concealed within eight single-serve coffee sachets.
As the result of a JCIS covert operation on 8 April 2026, 43 year old Paul DUFFY was arrested having taken receipt of a substitute parcel at a St Helier block of flats. A small quantity of cocaine, scales and deal bags were recovered from DUFFY’s home address following a subsequent search by JCIS Officers. In interview DUFFY admitted that his mother lived in the block of flats that the drugs had been sent to, but at a different flat number to that which the drugs had been addressed to.
The heroin and cocaine seized from the postal packet has a maximum street value of £34,700 and £10,800 respectively.
DUFFY was sentenced today to six years and eight months imprisonment.
JCIS Senior Manager Luke Goddard said: “This seizure demonstrates the effectiveness of JCIS controls at the Post Office and our ability to apprehend those attempting to import controlled drugs. This case highlights the disregard drug smugglers have for the innocent parties who’s addresses they use in order to try and avoid prosecution.”
