A 39-year-old female was today sentenced by the Royal Court to three years’ imprisonment for the importation of 56.28 grams of cocaine, with a street value of £14,000.
Lisa Danielle Ross, from Ashford, arrived in the Island on Friday 19 December 2025 on a flight from London. She was stopped and questioned by Jersey Customs and Immigration Officers, following a positive indication by the drugs detector dog.
Ross stated that she was in the Island for one night to visit a friend but was unable to provide the friend’s surname and stated that she believed they lived on a boat. She later changed her story stating that her brother “Lewis” would be collecting her from the airport. Ross admitted to cocaine use following a positive swab taken from her belongings.
A search of Ross’s person was authorised to which she became erratic and emotional towards officers. Ross was subsequently arrested on suspicion of importing controlled drugs and whilst being placed into custody she was seen to remove a small clingfilm wrapped package from her bra that she placed into her mouth.
She was physically restrained by officers and spat out the package containing 1.89 grams of cocaine. Ross later produced a further package containing 54.39 grams of cocaine that she had concealed internally.
Paul Le Monnier, Senior Manager at Jersey Customs and Immigration Service, said: “This sentence reflects the serious nature of drug importation offences and the harm that controlled drugs cause within our community. The proactive approach of our Officers, supported by the drugs detector dog, prevented a substantial quantity of cocaine from reaching the streets of the Island.
"Those who seek to import controlled substances into Jersey should be under no illusion that they will be detected, prosecuted, and brought before the courts.”
