Children and young people across Jersey have played a key role in shaping major Island projects through the School Council Network, with their views directly influencing decisions on online safety, education, wellbeing, and the future of Fort Regent.
The newly published School Council Network Annual Report 2025–2026 and youth friendly version shows that more than 700 students attended six School Council Network sessions, representing around 25 primary and secondary schools.
Over the past year, pupils generated more than 6,300 pieces of feedback, helping to inform initiatives including DigiSafe Jersey, the Jersey Play Plan, Fort Regent regeneration, the Children and Young People's Survey, public health campaigns, and future education planning.
Online safety emerged as one of the strongest themes, with children calling for more support to help them stay safe online, understand the risks of social media and know where to turn for help if something goes wrong.
The School Council Network worked with previous Government Ministers and a range of government departments and partner organisations, ensuring children's voices were heard in decisions that affect them. Their views were shared directly with the Children's Outcomes Executive Committee.
The report highlights the growing impact of pupil voice in Jersey and demonstrates how involving children in decision-making helps create better policies, services, and outcomes for everyone.
