The Safe Places app

Download the app for free on Apple App Store or Google Play

The app has a function called ‘Get me to my nearest Safe Place now’. This will direct you to the nearest open Safe Place.

If there are no Safe Places within a 15-minute walk of where you are, it will automatically offer you to call the Police non-emergency number to get help over the phone.

The app can be voice activated. This means that if you find it difficult to use the app or have a visual impairment you can be directed to a Safe Place by talking to your phone.

What are Safe Places

A Safe Place is a business or organisation that can help you if you’re:

  • anxious
  • scared
  • intimidated
  • lost
  • worried you might be at risk

Anyone who feels unsafe can go there for help.

Staff at a Safe Place will:

  • talk with you and offer comfort
  • listen and reassure you
  • let you stay safely inside until help arrives
  • help you call a trusted person
  • contact emergency services if needed
  • arrange a taxi or lift

Safe Places are part of a UK network. The network is new in Jersey but has been in the UK for a few years.

Only businesses and organisations that have signed up to the Jersey scheme can be Safe Places.
