Passports that include the words 'European Union'
Passports that include the words European Union will continue to be issued for a short period after 30 March 2019. You can't choose whether your passport includes or doesn't include the words European Union.
There's no difference for British citizens whether they are using a passport that has or hasn't got the words European Union, both designs will be equally valid for travel.
All applications approved from 1 April 2019 for Jersey variant British passports will receive a burgundy British passport that will not include the words ‘European Union’ on the front cover.
