About the project
To improve safety for children and adults travelling to school, we’ll put a new signal controlled pedestrian crossing on Bagatelle Road at its junction with Les Varines.
The project will be delivered in phases:
- most disruptive construction activities will take place in spring and summer half term holidays
- minor less intrusive works will take place during school term time, outside of peak travel hours
This section of road was highlighted through public feedback as a priority location for safer pedestrian access. Particularly for those walking to nearby schools and to bus services that begin and end in the Jersey College for Girls bus park.
The project is part of the
Bagatelle Safer Routes to School programme.

The pedestrian crossing will be opened for use once the resurfacing works over the summer holidays has passed through this location.

Access
Pedestrian and vehicle access to businesses and premises will be maintained where possible during the works.
Residents within the working areas will be contacted by our Contractor if any temporary restrictions on access are needed.
Buses
Existing bus services will be maintained passed the works.
Bus stop Bon Air Lane (3243) southbound will be suspended during the summer half term works periods.
Bus users are advised to use southbound bus stop Bagatelle Lane S (2498) to the south of the site during the works.
From 13 to 18 July, inbound route 33 buses won't turn into La Rue du Froid Vent and pass through Wellington Road and St Saviours Road. They'll be diverted down Bagatelle Road and Mont Millais.
Inbound stops this route won't serve during this period are:

- Brooklyn Street (2347)
- Chapel Lane (3763)

Outbound number 33 buses will operate as usual.
