These toolkits are to be used in conjunction with the Government of Jersey's relocation policy.

Relocation support packages

Relocation support is provided through a Government of Jersey approved relocation partner and will be tailored from the individual packages below based on your requirements. An initial needs analysis will be conducted by the relocation partner.

Package 1: Initial orientation

This package includes:

an area tour of the Island by car
a tour of central St Helier on foot
an explanation of Housing Law in Jersey
an introduction to practical aspects of daily life in Jersey
a general overview of the cost of living
addressing any additional concerns, for example, in respect of medical care, leisure activities, safety, sports facilities and culture
an explanation of childcare and schooling (where relevant)

Package 2: Finding a home to rent

This package includes:

needs analysis and overview of the local market and availability
search and selection support including availability of temporary key worker housing (if applicable) and subject to availability
options discussed to agree shortlist for viewing
accompanied viewings of up to seven shortlisted properties
liaising and negotiating with the agent or landlord (as applicable) to agree monthly rent and terms of lease
coordinating with removal contractor
ensuring property is clean and ready to move into
assistance with setting up utilities, such as broadband, electricity, water, oil and gas
full photographic inventory of contents and condition
liaising with the agent of landlord (as applicable) to resolve any initial problems during the first two weeks of the tenancy

Package 3: Finding a suitable nursery or school

This package includes:

outline of the Jersey education and nursery systems, as relevant
fully explain the different nursery or schooling options relevant to your needs
enquire about availability
accompanied visits to schools and nurseries to meet principals
assistance with registration and assessments, where applicable
organising taster days (if applicable)
assistance with any pre-requisites, including school uniform

Package 4: Settling in - administration

This package includes:

registering with Social Security and Tax
importing and registering, or buying vehicle(s)
information on healthcare, registering with doctors and dentists
buying furniture and household items
securing insurance for home contents and vehicles
obtaining a Jersey driving licence
finding a local mobile phone contract
opening a local bank account

Eligible removal items

The relocation removals service consists of all of the services listed below. You may opt-in or opt-out to any of these services.

Services

Planning:

the removals service contractor will engage with you to carry out a survey, discuss your needs and create a moving plan including agreeing a date and time for collection

Packing materials:

upon request the supplier will provide all appropriate packaging materials – this shall include all packing material, including appropriate boxes, packaging materials including wrapping paper, proactive wrapping, boxing tape

Removal and delivery of goods:

door to door home removal service. Collection and delivery including providing appropriate and safe storage of goods whilst in transit
provide longer term storage solutions if required
remove any unwanted removals packaging
handle all customs paperwork

Payment

Payment for services within the agreement will be made to the appointed contractor by the States of Jersey directly.

Relocation of vehicles

The relocation of motorised and electric vehicles is not included within the service. If you wish to relocate a vehicle to the Island, you should do so at the time that you relocate, traveling by ferry with the vehicle to the Island.
