Jersey Overseas Aid (JOA) is seeking a proactive and experienced individual to join its governing board as a Non-States Commissioner.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape Jersey’s international development and humanitarian response, supporting some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.

About the role

As one of 3 Non-States Commissioners, you will contribute to the strategic direction, governance, and funding decisions of Jersey Overseas Aid.

Working alongside fellow Commissioners, you will ensure that public funds are used effectively to deliver meaningful global impact.

The role includes:

  • providing strategic and governance oversight
  • reviewing and approving grant funding applications
  • contributing to financial oversight and risk management
  • attending monthly board meetings
  • acting as an ambassador for JOA and engaging with key stakeholders

Key requirements

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

  • experience in finance, governance, or regulatory compliance at a senior level
  • strong understanding of governance and oversight responsibilities
  • a proactive, solution-focused approach
  • a clear commitment to international development and humanitarian work
  • excellent relationship-building and collaboration skills
