31 July 2025Notice is hereby given that the Minister for the Environment is seeking views on draft regulations ahead of bringing the Food (Jersey) Law 2023 into effect. These regulations are key to modernising Jersey’s food laws and strengthening consumer and public health protections.
Expected to be lodged in December 2025 and debated in January 2026, the draft regulations include:
- mandatory allergen labelling
- a licensing scheme for food businesses
- updated food hygiene rules, replacing outdated legislation
This consultation is also an opportunity to explain the rationale behind the proposals and raise awareness of the changes.

The consultation closing date for comments is 9 October 2025.
