Reviewer for States Members’ Remuneration

TypePublic notice
Date published
26 October 2022

In April 2022, the States agreed a new system for setting States Members’ pay through the implementation of the States of Jersey (Remuneration of Elected Members) Law 2022. A recruitment panel has been established in order to appoint a person (who must be sufficiently impartial and independent) to carry out a review of the amount of remuneration and allowances payable to elected States Members.

The role will require the reviewer to undertake a review and produce a report within 12 months of being appointed. The report must include the amount of remuneration payable to elected States Members, the date of when the remuneration level is to take effect and an explanation of why the amount specified, and the date specified are appropriate. The reviewer’s report should also determine any other matters relating to remuneration and allowances of elected members as required.

It is intended that the reviewer will consult with the Minister for Treasury and Resources, all elected members and any other stakeholders during the course of the review.

The recruitment panel is seeking expressions of interest from persons who would be interested in undertaking this role. If you're interested in submitting an expression of interest, the panel needs:

  • indications of relevant experience (for example, your CV)
  • a brief indication of the approach that might feasibly be taken for the review
  • an indication of the fee rate which would apply

Applications should be submitted in writing no later than 9 December 2022 to the:

States Remuneration Recruitment Panel,
Morier House,
Halkett Place,
St Helier,
JE1 1DD.

For an informal discussion about this role or how to apply can be obtained from Kellie Boydens, Principal Committee and Panel Officer, email k.boydens@gov.je or telephone +44 (0) 1534 441075.
