Request

How many senior leaders in schools have been trained in HR processes and are therefore in a position to guide and support colleagues through grievance procedures?

Response

The induction for head teachers and deputy head teachers, who are new in post, includes an introductory meeting with Human Resources. As an overview, part of the discussion covers the role of Human Resources with the business and current key policies.

The corporate training offer, which is currently under review, includes specific training for managing grievance. This is advocated for senior leaders in schools.

In the event of a formal grievance being raised in any area of business, each case is allocated a dedicated case manager from the case management team at that time. It is their remit to oversee an investigation and support the commissioning manager in undertaking the actions which are recommended.

In addition, Human Resources business partners are available to coach and support senior leaders throughout the process.
