Ambulance waiting times (FOI)

Ambulance waiting times (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by States of Jersey and published on 09 December 2016.

Request

I would like to know how long patients taken by ambulance to accident and emergency departments are kept waiting in the vehicle. I would like stats from 2014 to 2016.

Response

We do not measure waiting times in vehicles at the Emergency Department.

The average time an ambulance spent at the Emergency Department in 2016 was 13.5 minutes (taken from a sample of 2,700 ambulance arrivals) this is taken from the arrival of the vehicle at the Emergency Department until the vehicle leaves.

In Jersey it is rare for patients to have to wait in the ambulance prior to entering the Emergency Department.
