Temporary taxi rank trial (FOI)
Temporary taxi rank trial (FOI)Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by States of Jersey and published on 03 February 2017.
How many weeks of the temporary taxi rank trial left?
How much has is cost the taxpayer?
It would be reasonable it assume that the marshals had counters / clicker to determine usage.
How many pick up per Friday / Saturday and Saturday / Sunday were there?
And what were the comparison to the Weighbridge taxi rank.
Wouldn't it have saved the taxpayer money to allow all taxis to pick up at the Weighbridge, or close Wharf Street and Weighbridge Place sending all public to the temporary rank.
There is no currently no set end date for the trial.
Up to 8 January 2017 (date of the Freedom of Information request) a total of £5,265.00 has been spent.
The data required for taxi regulation is gathered through unmet demand surveys, these are undertaken independently on a spot basis.

The purpose of the joint part-time rank ie., rank taxis and private hire cabs, reduces the queuing time at the Weighbridge at peak times and offers an alternative to the public, ensuring private hire cabs can collect their passengers in a designated area.
This part-time rank has assisted in ensuring customers can return home in a more timely and orderly fashion.
