Response

A

The Public of the Island acquired the freehold ownership of the site that is now Langford Sports Facility on the 1 February 1991.

B

The sports division of the Economic Development Tourism Sport and Culture Department manage the car parks on the Langford site. There are actually two car parks at Langford Sports Facility, one on the south lower side and one on the north upper side providing a total of 80 spaces.

C

There is shared access for all users of the Langford site at the extreme southern end of the private driveway to the west of Langford, in order to access Langford’s south car park. The private driveway belongs to Saint Meen Properties Limited, the owners of Beaulieu Convent School.

On 10 December 2010 there was a Deed of Transaction between the Public of the Island, Saint Meen Properties Limited and The Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, whereby Saint Meen Properties granted rights of access over its roadway leading to Beaulieu Convent School to the Public of the Island to allow access to Langford, including the Langford south car park.

A copy of this transaction, and the acquisition deeds referred to earlier, can be found in the Public Registry. The Public Registry Index and Document Enrolment (PRIDE) system can be accessed either at the Public Registry, in the basement of the States Building or the Jersey Archive.

D

During the day, parking permits are issued to teachers at Victoria College and Jersey College for Girls to assist them with the limited parking on the colleges’ grounds. Traditionally both car parks have been allowed to be used by the neighbouring colleges for the pick-up and drop-off of students. The car park is then used by users of Langford Sports Centre in the evenings and at weekends.

E

The car park primarily serves users of Langford Sports Centre, but also provides overflow parking during the day, as described in response 'D' above.

F

The bus stop was moved in 2009 due to road safety concerns in respect of the previous location.
