Department for Infrastructure relocation costs (FOI)

Department for Infrastructure relocation costs (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by States of Jersey and published on 12 April 2017.

Request

Please will you provide a breakdown of all the costs, including new equipment, for DfI to move to Beresford house at Bellozanne.

Response

As part of the rationalisation of office space and consolidation of sites across which the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) operates, the Beresford House offices have been remodelled and brought up to modern safety, working and wellbeing standards. This included the relocation of a non-DfI States of Jersey team to office accommodation in Hill Street from Beresford House as part of the office rationalisation.

The costs of the works at Beresford House can be summarised as:

Building Work / Decoration£69,804.80
Electrical / Data Cabling and Installation£20,348.77
Fire / Security Systems£6,543
Furniture and Equipment / Moving Costs£57,323.79
Total direct costs - Beresford House Move£154,020.36
Existing occupants relocation costs£25,591.13
Overall Total£179,611.49

Where appropriate some works have been undertaken by DfI staff and their costs are also included in the above figures.

The refurbishment of the Bellozanne site is part of DfI’s office strategy which saves the cost to the taxpayer of building a new £4m facility by refurbishing existing properties and freeing up the South Hill site for sale and redevelopment.
