Please disclose a list of drink related incidents that have taken place at the Havre Des Pas Jersey Seaside Festival for the last 10 years. Please list as incidents and type for each year.

Response

The States of Jersey Police have limited information regarding incidents at the annual Seaside Festival held at Havre des Pas. The event is policed by both the States and Honorary police.

Whilst any arrests are recorded, verbal warnings and words of advice given regarding an individual’s behaviour will not be held by the police.

The event is held annually on the Sunday before the Battle of Flowers. Arrests have been recorded in only three of the previous 10 years.

  • 2007 - one arrest for drunk and disorderly, one arrest for assault
  • 2012 - one arrest for obstruction
  • 2015 - one arrest for drunk and disorderly

Many instances of poor behaviour influenced by alcohol will, in these circumstances, be dealt with by event security or by the police giving words of advice and would therefore not be recorded. In some cases, the individuals would be asked to leave the festival or risk being arrested.
