Criminal investigation into Innovation Fund (FOI)

Please kindly confirm whether the Chief Minister's Department is currently undergoing a police investigation? If so, please can you provide some detail as to the nature of the investigation and when it was first launched.

Please could you also kindly confirm as to whether there are any investigations currently being undertaken regarding Jersey’s Innovation Fund? Please provide details as to the nature of the investigation and when it was first launched.

Please kindly confirm the costs incurred so far to the States for any investigations currently being undertaken.

Please provide a separate cost for each investigation if there is more than one.

Please kindly confirm the cost so far incurred to the States for the ongoing PSNI investigation into complaints made by (name withheld) against the States of Jersey Police.

The States of Jersey police can confirm, there is a live on-going criminal investigation in respect of the Innovation Fund, following a referral from the Attorney General’s office in January this year, as already widely reported.

That investigation involves working with the Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture Department.

Costs are met from normal policing duties budgets and enquiries are completed at no extra cost.

On 14 June 2016, the Minister for Home Affairs gave a provisional estimate for the cost of the PSNI enquiry to be £31,432. The final cost is yet to be delivered to the States.
