Installation of fire sprinkler systems (FOI)

Installation of fire sprinkler systems (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by States of Jersey and published on 30 August 2017.

Request

Under The Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) 2004, I would like to request access to data on fire sprinkler systems in the UK.

We come to the understanding that commercial buildings need to register with their local water supply company when they install a fire sprinkler system.

I’d be grateful if the Fire and Rescue Service in your county could provide me with the following data, from 2012 to 2017

  • full Address (address and postcode) of buildings that have installed a fire sprinkler system
  • organisation Name
  • registration date

If the data you store does not extend to 2007, please provide the data for the years that are available.

Response

The States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service does not hold the requested information.

Given the nature of your research and the legislation to which you refer, please be aware of the following:

  • Jersey has its own Parliament – the Assembly of the States of Jersey
  • Jersey is not represented in the UK Parliament and does not form part of the UK. Jersey is not a UK county. The UK Parliament does not legislate for the Island without its consent
  • The States of Jersey has its own legislation. The Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) 2004 to which you refer is UK legislation and does not apply in Jersey
