States opposition to the 2003 Iraq invasion (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by Government of Jersey on behalf of the States Greffe and published on 14 December 2017.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

Request

On 18 February 2003, the States Assembly debated and approved P.12/2003, which agreed that the Assembly would oppose the then imminent invasion of Iraq by the British and American armed forces, and required the Bailiff to transmit this view to the UK government.

Could you provide a copy or record of the correspondence sent to the UK government by the Bailiff to transmit the view of the Assembly?

Response

The PDF document below is a copy of the correspondence sent by the Bailiff to the then Lieutenant Governor, Air Chief Marshal Sir John Cheshire KBE CB, requesting the States decision of 18 February 2003 on proposition P.12/2003 be transmitted to the UK government.

Letter from the Bailiff to Lieutenant Governor
