Request

How many States initiated Committee of Inquiries have been held in the past five years and what is their cost, broken down per Committee and in total?

Response

Since January 2013 the States Assembly have established only one Committee of Inquiry:

  • Independent Jersey Care Inquiry, established following the adoption of ‘Committee of Inquiry: Historical Child Abuse’ (P.118/2012) on 6th March 2013

Please follow the link below which provides details of both the inquiry costs and costs incurred by Departments up to February 2017:

Independent Jersey Care Inquiry costs to February 2017

A further report on the final costs of the inquiry will be published once all residual costs have been finalised.

This response has been issued on behalf of the States Greffe. The States Greffe is responsible for the information held by (and on behalf of) both itself and the States Assembly.  Neither the States Assembly nor the States Greffe form part of the Government of Jersey and the Government was not involved either in the examination and retrieval of any information required for this response, nor in the drafting of the response itself.
