F

Response

A

The question cannot be answered in the exact form requested as IVF is a part of the function of Assisted Reproduction Unit (ARU).

The term IVF (Invitro Fertilisation) covers many related treatments.

The patient will have previously been seen by the medical team in the Assisted Reproduction Unit (ARU) to establish the exact treatment required and if this includes IVF or not.

B

The Health & Social Services Department are unable to answer this question, as they are unable to separate out the costs from the ARU and IVF. Patients go through many tests and other treatment before a decision is made on IVF treatments.

C

All pre IVF investigations are covered by the States of Jersey.

Up to three cycles of ‘fresh’ IVF medication is also covered. Unlimited medication for Frozen Embryo replacement cycles (of which patients have an average of two) unless the female has reached 42 years of age and they are then charged for all medication.

D

There is currently no waiting list for IVF.

E

The question cannot be answered in the exact form requested. Staff work within the ARU and do not work only or specifically on IVF.

The staffing on the ARU unit is as follows:

  • 1 Consultant 10.5 hours per week

  • 1 Staff Grade Doctor 10.5 hours per week.

  • 1 Specialist Nurse 37.5 hours per week

  • 1 Staff Nurse 15 hours per week

  • 1 administrator 20 hours per week

F

The question cannot be answered in the exact form requested. Records kept are for number of cycles and not number of patients.

In the last 10 years the ARU has completed 1291 IVF related cycles.

G

The question cannot be answered in the exact form requested as prior to 2016 accurate figures are unavailable.

The number of children that were born following successful IVF treatment is as follows:

  • 2017 = 16
  • 2016 = 22
