Response

The Chief Executive Charlie Parker was employed on a permanent States of Jersey employment contract with effect from 8 January 2018.

His salary is a matter of public record, £250,000, and is paid monthly in arrears in common with all States of Jersey employees. He had been paid £141,129.01 gross as at August 2018.

A decision notice was issued by the Office of the Information Commissioner on 21 November in relation to the original exemption of any further details. The decision notice can be found at the following link:

The States of Jersey have complied with the decision notice. A copy of the contract can be found below, redacted in accordance with the decision notice and the approved application of Article 25 (Personal information) of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011.

(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018.

(2) Information is absolutely exempt information if –

(a) it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is not the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018; and

(b) its supply to a member of the public would contravene any of the data protection principles, as defined in that Law.
