Request

A

What percentage of the work force have been signed off sick due to stress since 1 January 2017 to date?

B

How many persons within this percentage work in the finance and banking industry?

C

Has this percentage risen or dropped in the last 10 years?

Response

A

During 2017, 2.26% of the work force submitted a valid Short Term Incapacity Allowance (STIA) certificate for stress at some point within the year whilst in employment, we do not hold the information for 2018.

The total employment figures are based on the labour market reports. The report for 2018 is not yet published so no figures for 2018 are available to date.

B

Information not held. Industry classification within the labour market report data does not directly correlate with sickness data held within the Social Security department.

C

The percentage of the work force that submitted a valid STIA certificate for stress has risen in the last 10 years by 0.62% (2008:1.64%, 2017:2.26%).
