Could you please publish any communications from the advocacy group 'The Board of Deputies of British Jews', as well as from any other public groups, lobbying the States of Jersey and / or the Chief Minister regarding the potential adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) international definition of anti-Semitism as part of the government's efforts to create hate crime legislation.

Response

A review has been undertaken by the Chief Minister’s office and External Relations Department. While the review was not exhaustive due to the breadth of the parameters, one email, which has had personal information redacted in line with Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law, is attached.

(1) Information is absolutely exempt information if it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018.

(2) Information is absolutely exempt information if –

(a) it constitutes personal data of which the applicant is not the data subject as defined in the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018; and

(b) its supply to a member of the public would contravene any of the data protection principles, as defined in that Law.
