Request

I am trying to find a list of zoos etc and which licence they have in place to operate is it similar to the UK (Dangerous Wild Animal Licence and Zoo Licence).

Response

In Jersey, there is a licensing requirement imposed by the Animal Welfare (Jersey) Law 2004 for a business keeping animals for exhibition to the public on 7 days or more in any period of 12 consecutive months. The only business licensed under this provision is Durrell Wildlife Park (DWCT).

The Dangerous Wild Animals (Jersey) Law provides for the Minister, or previously Committee, to issue an exemption to any zoo or circus which keeps animal listed in the Schedule. An exemption has been issued for DWCT.
