A

While the Jersey Blood Service was closed, 1998 units of red cells and 177 units of plasma were imported.

B

All of the red cells and plasma were obtained from National Health Service Blood and Transplant in England.

C

The cost of the purchases and the associated shipping was £348,352

For comparison, in the same period in the preceding year, the consumables cost for manufacturing blood on island was £411k. The initiative therefore saved £63k, which was reinvested in improvements to the blood service.
