Request

I would like to know how many applications were submitted for each of the nine Director General roles within the 'One Gov' Civil Service that were recently announced as well as their gender please.

Response

There are eight Director General roles within the States of Jersey. As part of recruitment into these roles:

  • One internal candidate was ‘slotted’ directly into the Director General – States Treasury and Exchequer role as it was a direct match (more than 80%) to the previous Chief Officer role held. The appointee was male.

  • Three internal candidates were ‘ring-fenced’ to a Director General role (Customer and Local Services, Growth Housing and Environment and Strategic Policy, Performance and Population) as they were a partial match (more than 60%) to the previous Chief Officer roles held. Following a full assessment and interview with the three candidates overseen by the Jersey Appointments Commission, they were all appointed to Director General roles. The appointees were all male.

  • The Director General Children, Young People, Education and Skills followed an open recruitment process overseen by the Jersey Appointments Commission. 14 applications were received. Of those candidates that declared their gender, nine were male and four were female. The appointee was male.

  • The Director General Justice and Home Affairs followed an open recruitment process overseen by the Jersey Appointments Commission. 20 applications were received. Of those candidates that declared their gender, 15 were male and two were female. The appointee was male.

  • The Chief Operating Officer followed an open recruitment process overseen by the Jersey Appointments Commission. 33 applications were received. Of those candidates that declared their gender, 24 were male and four were female. The appointee was male.

  • The Director General Health and Community Services followed an open recruitment process overseen by the Jersey Appointments Commission. 17 applications were received. Of those candidates that declared their gender, 11 were male and six were female. The appointee was female.
