Please can you answer the following questions relating to clinical trials:

A

Do you run any clinical trials for investigational medicinal products in Jersey?

B

If not, is there a reason why not?

C

Do you send patients to the UK for clinical trials of drugs as an alternative to not running trials in Jersey?

D

Do you know if Jersey has an ethics committee or regulatory authority or is Jersey covered by ethics committees and MHRA in UK?

Response

A and B

Yes, as part of multicentre trials.

C

If the clinical trial is being coordinated through a UK specialist centre then Jersey patients may be enrolled into trials by UK centres.

D

The Health and Community Services department has an ethics committee which would consider any local issues in relation to clinical trials approved by a recognised UK research ethics committee.
