Primary school teacher recruitment (FOI)

Primary school teacher recruitment (FOI)

Request

I would like to know why St Saviours primary school are recruiting four new teachers from the United Kingdom to start September 2019.

I have not seen these jobs advertised on the Gov.je website. I may of course have missed this but why bring teachers in from United Kingdom when there are people living in Jersey who are looking for teaching jobs.

Response

The claim that four new teachers are being brought over from the UK to teach at St Saviour’s primary school is incorrect.

In the last term, there was one teaching vacancy created which resulted in a one term posting for a teacher from September 2019. The recruitment process was followed and the candidate was chosen from a "talent pool". This is a list of teachers who had previously been interviewed and who successfully met the job selection criteria in the proceeding six month period, but who were not offered the role at the time.
