Request

A

Does your force have an online system for reporting crime? If yes, when was the online system implemented?

B

If you do have an online system for reporting crime, what categories of crime are the public able to report (please list the categories as they appear on the website)?

C

Does each crime report submitted online directly generate a record of a crime? If not what are the steps to a crime record being created?

Does each crime report submitted generate a call-back requirement for the force?

How many crimes have been reported online in the three years 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2019 or for the period since the online reporting system was launched. (Please break down the number of crimes reported by calendar month)

Response

A

Yes. February 2014.

B

Anything can be reported online. There are no presented categories.

C

No. The online report is received by the Desktop Services / Control Room Team and if the report amounts to a crime, a crime report is created. Not all reports amount to a crime.

Further information on how a crime is recorded is available at the following link:

Counting rules for recorded crime

D

No. The reporting person can specify if they want to be contacted or not and by whatever means, for example by e-mail or phone. Normally the reporting person is re-contacted for further information.
