Request

Please could I know mortality rates for a Malignant Melanoma for the years 2014,2015,2016,2017 and 2018?

Response

Statistics Jersey hold the number on deaths on Island (regardless of whether in hospital or not), coded by underlying cause. Information on 2018 deaths will be published on 26 September in the annual mortality report and are not available prior to publication as not all 2018 deaths have been coded for underlying cause at this time. This information is therefore exempt under Article 36 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011.

The table below gives the number of deaths with underlying cause recorded as ‘C43’ (Malignant melanoma of skin) or ‘C44’ (Other malignant neoplasms of skin) for each year from 2014 to 2017, and the associated age-standardised mortality rate, along with the lower and upper confidence interval for each year’s rates.

Where the number of deaths are less than five (<5), the numbers and rates have not been presented to avoid identification of individuals. Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law has been applied.
