Request

Which Secondary Schools study EBacc GCSE qualifications and for how many years have each of them been studying these GCSE qualifications?

Response

EBacc (English Baccalaureate) is a set of GCSE qualifications used as a standards measure in the UK. Jersey do not use this standards measure.

Information about the English Baccalaureate can be found at the following link:

English Baccalaureat (EBacc)

GCSE subjects included in their measure are:

  • English language and English literature

  • maths

  • science - combined science or three single sciences from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and computer science

  • history or geography

  • a language - ancient or modern

Every Government of Jersey Secondary School offer all of these subjects and have done so since the introduction of GCSEs examinations in 1988.
