Cancelled colorectal appointments (FOI)

Cancelled colorectal appointments (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by Government of Jersey and published on 09 March 2020.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

Request

I would like to know the number of colorectal appointments (consultations and procedures) which have been cancelled and rescheduled over the past six months (from the date of receipt of this request).

Response

The term ‘Transferred’ is used within the Electronic Patient Record System rather than the term ‘rescheduled used by the requester.

Between the dates of 1 August 2019 and 31 January 2020 the number of Outpatient appointments for Colorectal Specialty that have been cancelled or transferred is 71. This includes patients who have requested an earlier appointment, a later appointment, the appointment being no longer required and the unavailability of the clinician (such as illness).

Between the dates of 1 August 2019 and 31 January 2020 the number of cancelled theatre bookings for colorectal endoscopy procedures is 517. This number includes those patients who were unfit for the procedure, those who Did Not Attend (DNA) and those patients who had been prioritised as Routine and having their appointment moved by the hospital for cases prioritised as Urgent.
