Please provide figures for how many people were arrested in 2018 and 2019 for each of the `Fatal Four'.

Response

The States of Jersey Police advertise ‘The fatal four’ on some of its vehicles. These offences are considered the most common causes of ‘injury’ road traffic collisions (RTC’s) in the island. They consist of:

• Drink driving
• Driving whilst holding a mobile device
• Speeding
• Failing to where a seatbelt.

The below table shows these and other offences for the last three years. Arrests would normally only occur for drink driving offences. Other offences would be dealt with by way of a Parish hall enquiry or summons to the magistrates court unless serious injury was caused by the driver
