Can you advise how many members of part time staff are paid overtime/ for additional hours worked in Treasury since 2017 to present?

Can you break this down into money that has been paid out, or time in lieu?

Can you also advise if there are regular monthly payments made to the same members of part time staff? if so, can reasons be given as to why they would receive this benefit which I don’t believe applies to full time staff.

A

There are 18 part time employees in Treasury and Exchequer who have received overtime payments in the period 2017 to date.

B

It is not possible to identify, within the time allowed, where a part time employee has taken time off in lieu instead of receiving an overtime payment as this has been recorded on a number of different systems. To extract this information would exceed the time allocated for response under the Freedom of Information (Costs) (Jersey) Regulations 2014.

C

Full time and part time employees have been eligible for both overtime payments and time off in lieu.

For part time workers, overtime is paid at plain time until the grade hours of the role are met. This means that a part time civil servant would not be eligible for enhanced rates until they had exceeded 37 hours per week. All time off in lieu is at plain time.

All of the 18 part time workers who received paid overtime payments have received these on more than one occasion during the period 2017 to date.

Article 16 A scheduled public authority may refuse to supply information if cost excessive

(1) A scheduled public authority that has been requested to supply information may refuse to supply the information if it estimates that the cost of doing so would exceed an amount determined in the manner prescribed by Regulations.

Regulation 2 (1) of the Freedom of Information (Costs) (Jersey) Regulations 2014 allows an authority to refuse a request for information where the estimated cost of dealing with the request would exceed the specified amount of the cost limit of £500. This is the estimated cost of one person spending 12.5 working hours in determining whether the department holds the information, locating, retrieving and extracting the information.
