Covid-19 hardship funding for fee-paying schools (FOI)

Covid-19 hardship funding for fee-paying schools (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by Government of Jersey and published on 03 August 2020.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

I would like to request the FOI in respect of the amount that each private school received from the GOJ in addition to their grants to assist them during COVID 19. I understand that the report in the JEP advised that additional funds had been set aside for private schools to assist parents with school fees that had not been able to afford them during the closure of the schools.

As of July 2020 the following funds have been assigned to be paid to the fee-paying schools shown in the table below. Beaulieu Convent Primary and Secondary is the only private school listed. The figures below represent the first of two tranches of funding. The remaining 50% will be provided upon evidence that the first tranche has been effectively depleted. Any surplus funds will be repaid to the Department by December 2020, therefore the final expenditure will not be known until after this date. Schools have until 31 October 2020 to apply for the COVID-19 Hardship Funding.

Beaulieu Convent Primary and Secondary £80,000
Jersey College for Girls £64,680
Jersey College Preparatory £35,399
Victoria College£65,900
Total £245,979
