What percentage of the 2019 income tax assessments sent out in 2020 to date have been generated and calculated automatically by the new income tax computer system without any input from any individual.

Response

As at 10 August 2020, 27% of all of the 2019 income tax assessments that have been sent to individuals in 2020 have been generated and calculated automatically by Revenue Jersey systems, without the intervention of Revenue Jersey officers. 

It should be noted that systems have been rigorously tested to ensure the accuracy of calculations applied and that these online returns are subject to a number of compliance checks. If any of these checks are failed this will trigger the intervention of a Revenue Officer before the assessment is sent.
