Taxi drivers stopped and cautions issued (FOI)

Taxi drivers stopped and cautions issued (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by States of Jersey and published on 14 September 2015.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

Request

I would (like) to ask under freedom of information how many taxi drivers have been stopped and issued with a caution since 16 June 2015 up till today and what offence was committed.

Response

The States of Jersey Police do not hold the information requested.

When officers complete a road check, they record details of the vehicle registration mark of the vehicle checked and the driver in their note books.

They do not distinguish between taxis and other road users.

No record of vehicle use (taxi / plumbers van etc) is made unless a prosecution around the use of the vehicle is considered.

If a taxi driver was operating without a valid PSV licence, the fact the vehicle was being used as a taxi would be relevant.

If the driver was cautioned for speeding, the fact it was a taxi would not be relevant and not recorded.
