Costs of proposed tax change letters (FOI)

Costs of proposed tax change letters (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by Government of Jersey and published on 20 November 2020.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

How much did the recent 2020 Tax document (full colour hard paper letter informing the public that we would have to repay the 2019 tax bill over five years starting in 2023) cost to produce and post to the entire Jersey population.

Under what budget does this expense get classified when it is for an unapproved decision?

The total costs of production and postage of the 60,100 letters issued in August 2020 to inform personal taxpayers of the proposals to move those that currently pay on a prior-year basis to a current-year basis are provided in the table below. The production cost shown includes the printing of the leaflets that were sent with the letters to prior-year taxpayers:

Production cost£17,500
Postage cost  £29,800

Costs rounded to nearest £100

The costs were met out of Revenue Jersey’s allocated operational budget
