Registration of CCM R35 motorcycles (FOI)

Registration of CCM R35 motorcycles (FOI)

Request

Would you please tell me how many CCM R35 motorcycles were originally registered in Jersey and how many are currently registered and taxed in Jersey?

Response

Our current computerised records, which start from 1992, show that there are three CCM R35 motorcycles registered in Jersey. Road tax is not applicable in Jersey.

It should be noted that the total number of CCM R35 motorcycles on the register may not reflect the actual number in existence. Unfortunately, despite it being a legal requirement for registered owners to notify DVS within seven days of a vehicle being scrapped or exported, DVS are not always notified.

Records held prior to 1992 are only searchable by registration number, therefore, a manual search of these would be required in order to obtain further information. We estimate that it will take us in excess of 12.5 working hours to locate and retrieve any further data in reference to your request and as such any further search will not be processed.

A scheduled public authority that has been requested to supply information may refuse to supply the information if it estimates that the cost of doing so would exceed an amount determined in the manner prescribed by Regulations.

Article applied

Article 16 A scheduled public authority may refuse to supply information if cost excessive

(1) A scheduled public authority that has been requested to supply information may refuse to supply the information if it estimates that the cost of doing so would exceed an amount determined in the manner prescribed by Regulations.

Regulation 2 (1) of the Freedom of Information (Costs) (Jersey) Regulations 2014 allows an authority to refuse a request for information where the estimated cost of dealing with the request would exceed the specified amount of the cost limit of £500. This is the estimated cost of one person spending 12.5 working hours in determining whether the department holds the information, locating, retrieving and extracting the information.
