How many Income Tax Instalment Scheme (ITIS) Rate Notices did Revenue Jersey fail to issue effective for 2021 before 31 December 2020 to individuals whose previous ITIS Rate Notices expired on 31 December 2020.

Response

With just one exception affecting only a small cohort of taxpayers and detailed below Revenue Jersey issued all Effective Rate Notices effective for 2021 by 17 December 2020.

Revenue Jersey had identified an issue whereby some married / civil partner taxpayers who have elected for separate assessments may not have been issued an effective rate notice at the same time as other taxpayers. This will have affected a maximum of 1,350 individuals and each case will have been subject to review by a Revenue Jersey Officer. As at 31 December 2020 no more than 400 notices remained outstanding.

Other than the matter referred to above, Revenue Jersey has detected no failure to issue effective rate notices in the first instance; nor any failure in the postal system.
