Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by States of Jersey and published on 14 October 2015.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

Request

For each of the following years please state the total number of residential transactions passed before the Royal Court:

2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014. For 2015 please state the number passed up to
30 September 2015.

Response

The figures for residential property transactions through the Royal Court are:

2009

2010

2011

2012

2013

2014

1054

1053

834

994

1077

1217

The figure for 2015 up to and including 18 September 2015 is 900 (this is the last Royal Court sitting currently included in data at the Statistics Unit).

The above figures do not include:

  • commercial properties
  • transactions solely related to land
  • properties that are transacted by way of a gift
  • properties transferred from joint names into sole names
  • properties transferred from sole name into joint names

To provide figures up to 30 September 2015, data from the Royal Court sitting on 25 September 2015 would need to be included.

We have checked the Public Registry records at the Judicial Greffe for that day and found 35 transactions which are likely to be classified as residential but have not yet been included in the statistics.
