Request

As at 28 February 2021 how many personal Income Tax Assessments had not been issued to individuals who had been expected to but had not filed 2019 Personal Income Tax Returns

Response

As at 31 March 2021 the Comptroller of Revenue estimates that around 3,500 default assessments will need to be issued to people who did not file a 2019 income tax return. This number is broadly similar to the number of default assessments issued in earlier years.

Default assessments are issued where taxpayers are expected to file a tax return but did not do so.
