Deaths registered in Jersey since 2015 (FOI)

Deaths registered in Jersey since 2015 (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by Government of Jersey and published on 26 April 2021.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

Request

The total number of deaths in Jersey per week, for each week in the period 1 January 2015 to the present date.

Response

Deaths were first registered digitally from 1 January 2018 and therefore the requested statistics can only be extrapolated from that date. Article 16 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied to data held prior to 2018, as it would take longer than 12.5 hours to collate.

The number of registered deaths per week are attached below:

Weekly death statistics 2018 to 2021

The statistics are presented by week, from week 1 to week 52. Each week number is presented by the Sunday week ending date. In order to provide a full week of registered death statistics, the first week and last week of each year therefore span some days from the preceding and next year.

Article applied

Article 16 A scheduled public authority may refuse to supply information if cost excessive

(1) A scheduled public authority that has been requested to supply information may refuse to supply the information if it estimates that the cost of doing so would exceed an amount determined in the manner prescribed by Regulations.
