Response

A.

Hautlieu School has published entry requirements for 16+ applications in their annual prospectus. The most recent publication can be found on the website below. See page five for specific entry criteria.

Places are made available to all applicants who meet the entry criteria.

There is no set number of places made available and the intake varies each year according to the number of students who meet the entry criteria.

The Year 12 intake at the school for the past two years was:

  • September 2014 was 257 students
  • September 2015 was 279.75 students

The above figures include full time and part time students.

B.

The school offers places to students who meet the entry criteria.

In order to meet this commitment, the school forecasts the likely intake numbers each year from applications received and plans accordingly.

C.

There are several reasons why the entry criteria may not be met.

Students who do not meet the entry criteria do not always contact the school following receipt of results and therefore the school is not able to provide this information.

D.

A total of nine students were admitted to Hautlieu School without grade C in English language in 2014 and 2015.

Data has been combined for both years for the purposes of statistical disclosure control, ie to protect the identity of individuals.

When only small numbers of individuals exist within a group or category, it may be possible for a user to identify somebody that they know within the data set and / or learn something new about them.

E and F

There is not a formal appeals process, but students who have not met the entry criteria are informed on results day and subsequently that the headteacher may consider their application under exceptional circumstances.

This is communicated on an individual basis when a representation is made to the school.
