I would like to request a yearly breakdown of the number of times your fire service were called out to extinguish a barbecue, or were called out to tackle an incident caused by a barbecue (eg called to extinguish a fire in a park, beach or woodland caused by a barbecue) in 2020 and 2021.

Response

The current figures for incidents known to involve BBQ’s are as follows;

  • 2020 - 38

  • 2021 - 8

These figures are indicative only, and do not represent incidents that may have been caused by BBQ’s, only those directly involving BBQ’s as the primary incident type or confirmed cause.
