Request

Number of traffic accidents / incidents (involving vehicles, cyclists and/or pedestrians) on Westmount Road in each of 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 that directly caused Westmount Road to be temporarily closed for any length of time. Please include the length of time of the road closure in each accident / incident.

Response

Over the period requested, there has only been one Road Traffic Collision recorded on Westmount Rd where an injury occurred.

This was in 2017 when the wing mirror of a passing car, struck a pedestrian on the arm. The vehicle was traveling down the hill. The driver states they had to pull to the left of the carriageway to avoid a larger vehicle coming up the hill. The road is narrow at this point, as is the pavement. The matter was not reported to the police at the time. The injury was minor but did require medical attention and was reported to the police the following day. The road was not closed.

Two other incidents have been recorded, both involving buses, both in 2020. One where a bus and van collided on the bend and a second involved a dispute between a bus and car driver on who should give way. Traffic was held up for a few minutes. No injuries were recorded in either.
